Whakarongo ake au
Ki ti tangi a te manu
E rere runga rawa e
Tui , tui, tui tuia
Tuia i runga

Tui, tui, tuhia
Kia rungo te ao
Kia rungo te po
Tui , tui, tuia

Week 2 Superstars

This week our superstars of the week are Tina, Bentley and Liam. They have been trying so hard to follow the PB4L focus of the week: We are learning to be respectful by using kind words and good manners.
They have also been trying so hard with their learning. Tina has made great reading progress, Bentley has been making strides in his writing and Liam is getting so much better at asking questions and sharing in front of the class.

Well done Room 9 superstars for Week 2 Term 4!

Costumes for the Production

We had our first run through of our performance with our costumes on the other day. We are so excited to be performing on the stage in a couple of weeks.

Don't we look amazing?! Thank you to the wonderful parent helpers who came in to help make our costumes.

Don't forget to buy your tickets at the office :)

Maori with Matua

We were really lucky to have Hana's dad come in twice and teach us a Maori song (Waiata). He is a previous teacher and now lectures at University.

The children really enjoyed the experience and we all can't get the catchy waiata out of our heads :)

Thank you again Matua for visiting us in Room 9 today!

Here is the Maori song that we learnt with Matua, see if you can sing it at home with mum and dad :)

Kiwi Team Celebration

This Friday is the Kiwi Team Celebration in the hall at 2.30pm.
Room 9 will be sharing their writing reflections about the science that we have been doing.

Hope to see you there!

Science on Fun Friday

As part of our science for the term the Kiwi classes have a rotation in the middle block where classes rotate around the teachers and get to experience some fun science experiments, exploring our Inquiry for the term of 'States of Matter'. In Room 9, we have been learning about what happens if we add a solid (baking soda) and a liquid (vinegar) together. We discovered it made a gas that could blow up a balloon!

Here are some of the excited and in awe faces of the Room 9 children joining in with the science.

We were feeling pretty excited to see what would happen next...

"Wow! That is cool!"

"It was so much fun!"

Pizza Lunch

Today in Room 9, we had a pizza lunch. I have been so impressed with how well the children have done with not only with their learning, but also with our choices this term that I thought shouting a nice tasty lunch would be a great way to show how proud I am of all the children in Room 9.

Have a lovely holiday break, keep learning and I will see everyone after the break well rested and ready for another term of learning!

Room 9 - Language of Learning Certificates

Here are the people in Room 9 who got the certificates this week for demonstrating the Language of Learning in the classroom...

Writing in Room 9 - We are learning to find tricky words

This week in writing, we have been learning to look for the words we want to write around the classroom and in our reading books.

We are getting so good at this and in turn it is helping us have to have the confidence to write more than one idea and even try words that we normally wouldn't use!

Random Act of Kindness week

The children in Room 9 are always trying their best to be kind and considerate of others and it was nice to celebrate this last week for Random Act of Kindness week. Everyday instead of talking about their feelings we had a complement circle where the children would give each other complements about kind things that each had done. It was so nice and made everyone feel so special that it is something that we will continue on every now and again.

We also did some writing about being kind to our friends and the types of things that we could and already do!

Here are some examples of our kindness writing:

Language of learning

At Reremoana school we have our language of learning (LOL). These are the things that we do to support our learning in the classroom. There is 'Reflecting, connecting, collaborating, questioning, be creative and be resilient.

On a Friday in Room 9 we celebrate the children that have been doing these things during the week by presenting certificates after reading.

Here are this weeks awesome learners:

Well done to Luke - for sharing his awesome ideas about road safety.
Tina - for helping other children in the class with their learning
Kathy - for also helping other children in the class with their learning
and Isaac- for making good choices all week.

In class celebrations!

It is always nice for children to have their efforts recognised and in Room 9 we do this in a number of ways. One of the highlights for the children is the end of week certificates related to the Reremoana 'Language Of Learning'.

We have also had a number of children celebrating their learning over in the office with the senior management and also a big well done to Emma Boswell and Nathan Stutter who received the Principals awards at the last school assembly.
